Spring and all of its wonders

This Spring we had the chance to experience many of natures wonders.  We planted seeds, made fairy gardens, raised seven chicks, hatched praying mantids, played with tadpoles, the list goes on!   Here are some pictures to share our time together... Always remember to stop and smell the roses.

One of our gardens.

A special visitor in the yard... We learned about snakes... This one in particular the Garter variety and what they eat and where they live.

Learning about a tadpoles journey to becoming a frog...

Examining stream life...

A special visit from Cathy Campbell, a master gardener who taught us all about bees and pollination.

What a fantastic way to end out our year!

Winter holidays

We celebrated Valentines day and Presidents' Day during our long winter months....

Celebrating the love!!!

Graduating and year-end

The chicks are now feathered and safe at home in their henhouse!  What fun we had watching them grow and next year we will be collecting eggs!!!

This little guy turned into this little guy....

Things are blooming and turning green!  Our outdoor space is becoming beautiful once again!

We found a mother dove and her babies nesting on my garage speaker.   We were able to watch them grow and then leave the nest...

Our plants in the fairy garden bloomed into beautiful flowers.

And our class graduated on a beautiful day!

Thanks for a great year!  And have a "wonder" -filled summer!!!!

A VERY snowy January

The new year started out with record snowfall... We missed a lot of school so we thoroughly enjoyed the time we did get to spend together.

We studied the animal tracks in the snow and found squirrel, rabbit and bird tracks...   We enjoyed watching the birds flying in to feast at our bird feeder!

To celebrate the snow we made snowmen from creamer bottles... We love our recycled crafts!

A Busy December...

I took a little time off of blogging but have many photos to share of our time preparing for the November December holidays.  We made turkeys, and had a Thanksgiving feast - complete with turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, rolls!   We made Christmas decorations, presents and even had a visit with Santa.  As the weather turns colder - we have spent far less time outside.  We can however watch the birds through our window - visiting our feeder.  We can't wait for it to warm up a bit and be able to compost and work in our garden space!

Thanksgiving and November were fun times - we talked about the pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving.  Each child helped to prepare the mashed potatoes for each class - and they were the best!!!

On to December:

The day of our Class Party - Santa came to visit.  He passed out our presents and listened to our Christmas wishes.  We had been practicing songs all month - so we even did a small performance for our parents and friends....
